# Configure YNAB Payee and Memo

> Choose which Redbark transaction fields populate Payee and Memo in your YNAB destination.

Each YNAB destination can map one Redbark source field to **Payee** and one to **Memo**.

New destinations default to:

* **Merchant name → Payee**
* **Description → Memo**

You can instead select Extended Description, Reference, Category, or Subcategory, or leave either field blank. Open the YNAB destination settings to change the mapping.

If the selected source field is absent on a transaction, that YNAB field is left blank. Payee is limited to 50 characters and Memo to 200 characters.

Destinations created before configurable field mapping can use the legacy fallback: merchant name for Payee, with category and description details combined in Memo. Saving explicit mappings replaces that fallback.
