# Map categories to YNAB

> Choose the YNAB category used for each bank transaction category and change mappings after setup.

YNAB category mapping is optional. It translates categories supplied by your bank into categories from your YNAB budget.

## Change category mappings

1. Open **Syncs** and select the YNAB sync.
2. Open the **Categories** tab.
3. Select a YNAB category for each Redbark source category you want to map.

Changes apply to future transactions. They do not recategorise transactions already imported into YNAB.

If you leave a category unmapped, Redbark sends the transaction without a YNAB category. You can categorise it manually or let YNAB's own rules handle it.

The picker includes visible YNAB categories and hides categories marked hidden or deleted, plus YNAB's internal Credit Card Payments and Internal Master Category groups.
